He earned his Juris Doctorate Degree from Hamline University School of Law in 1993. In 1994, after working for a local title insurance company handling title examinations and closings, Rob joined Greig Tennis’s Law Firm in Forest Lake. Greig and Rob worked together for nearly 20 years providing a wide variety of simple-to-complex transactional services for their firm’s clients. Greig Tennis retired from the practice of law in 2020. Rob and Greig continue to be good friends and support each other.
In 2013, Rob began his own firm, Collins Law Office, P.A., to continue to provide superior legal services and practical advice to clients in the areas of construction, elder law, probate, residential and commercial real estate, business, mediation, as well as business owner exit and transition planning.
Since 1998, Rob has been and remains a Real Property Law Specialist, certified by the MN State Bar Association. To help clients with business succession and transition planning needs, in 2018, Rob earned his CEPA®, Certified Exit Planning Advisor, designation through the Exit Planning Institute™.
One of Rob’s children, Cole, is active in the Forest Lake Scouts. As part of Scouts, Rob agreed to assist the Troop as an Assistant Scoutmaster and, in addition to Troop meetings, he spends many nights each year on “off-grid” camping and other adventures while helping the Scouts develop their leadership, self-confidence and team building skills. Through the Forest Lake Lions Club, Rob volunteered as an adult leader with the Leos Program to help our younger people develop leadership skills while having fun serving others.
Rob has served the Forest Lake Area Chamber of Commerce (FLACC) as a Director in the 1990s, 2000s, 2010s, and is currently a Director now in the 2020s. He has twice served as Chair of the Board of Directors of FLACC and will be the Chair for the 2021-2022 year.
