Mr. Strait is a graduate of Patrick Henry High School in Ashland, Virginia. During his time in high school, Mr. Strait enjoyed attending his church youth group, fixing up old Jeeps, participating in amateur boxing, and exploring his interest in entrepreneurship.
Following high school, Mr. Strait attended Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU). Mr. Strait studied mechanical engineering, nuclear engineering, and physics at university, eventually earning a Bachelor of Science in Physics.
Mr. Strait continued his interest in entrepreneurship while in college. He wrote, filed, and was granted two U.S. patents, US8490471 and US9340746. He also spent his time traveling, kayaking and canoeing, and supported the local music scene working as an audio engineer.
Before attending law school, Mr. Strait worked as a Research and Development Engineer at Afton Chemical Corporation. His long-standing interest in entrepreneurship also carried forward, as Mr. Strait owned and operated Dominion Wire and Anzen Pharmaceuticals before working as an attorney in Fort Collins.
After several years in the pharmaceutical industry, Mr. Strait attended law school at Regent University. He focused on several entrepreneurial aspects of law, including business finance, business formation and strategy, intellectual property, business liability and accountability, dispute mediation, and aviation law.
Mr. Strait is licensed to practice law in Colorado and is expecting licensure in Wyoming in June of 2022.
Mr. Strait is currently a managing partner at Anzen Legal Group in Fort Collins, Colorado. As part of the Anzen legal team, Mr. Strait offers Colorado residents legal services focused on business formation and organization, business liability shielding, trademarks and copyright, buy/sell agreements, construction and dispute mediation.
Mr. Strait has written two U.S. patents in the public record and is published in several trade magazines and industry presentations for the petrochemical industry.
Mr. Strait’s pro bono work includes business consultation for business owners in the Fort Collins community and beyond. He also does pro bono aviation law consultations and pro bono construction. He is a member of several professional associations, including Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, Lawyer-Pilot Bar Association, Colorado Pilots Association, National Space Society, International Air and Transportation Safety Bar Association, Toastmasters, Fort Collins Chamber of Commerce, Denver Bar Association, Colorado Bar Association, Federal Bar Association.
Mr. Strait cites raising his two children as his greatest accomplishment in life. He still enjoys fixing up old Jeeps and participating in church activities in his free time. He also enjoys recreationally flying small aircraft, tinkering and inventing, working on renovation projects, and teaching job skills to those in need.
